Spring Yellow Nails

Mavala Nail Varnish in 179 Lemon Cream

You'll have to excuse the condition of my nails at the moment as I'm due a manicure (or 100) but I just wanted to show you my new spring nail varnish. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I was searching high and low for a neon yellow colour, but came across this instead and kind of fell in love with the look of it. As soon as I got home I put it on and now I'm not too sure. It comes across as a sort of pastel yellow in the bottle, but as you can see from my nails above it's actually a kind of canary yellow which I don't think I'm 100% keen on. Maybe it will grow on me, who knows, but it is a very on trend, spring colour. It was actually in the new Mavala Spring Collection that they had launched in Boots and they were all lovely pastel colours.

As for the nail varnish itself, I have only tried a Mavala nail varnish once before and it wasn't mind blowing but it was alright. However I find this nail varnish applies quite streakily and you need at least 3 coats to give a completely opaque colour. It was £4.50 which I suppose not bank breaking but  considering Barry M's Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Varnishes are cheaper and ten times better, they've got to really step up their game quality wise. I don't think I'll be investing anymore of my money into Mavala.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried Mavala nail varnishes before?
